A Whole Other World

The Galapagos Islands, perhaps in large part due to their isolation in the equatorial region of the Pacific Ocean, far to the west of its governing nation of Ecuador, retains almost a mystical status surrounding its unique character of biodiversity. So unique and diverse, some of the creatures that call these volcanic islands home exist nowhere else in the world. Because of this uniqueness, the many islands and islets that make up the Galapagos have become a destination for countless travellers from all over the world. However, because of the sensitivity of the unique ecosystems, access to the diverse islands is strictly controlled and limited, requiring visitors to primarily reside on and venture daily to island shores from various forms of yachts and small cruise ships.

SCYC members, Wally and Alison Chinn, will once again be providing another of their photography-based travel presentations, providing viewers with an up-close look at experiencing the unique geography and bio-diversity that only the Galapagos Islands can showcase.

The presentation, as part of SCYC’s and Nanoose Power Squadron Speaker Series, will take place at the
Nanoose Library Hall on Wednesday, September 27th
starting at 7:00 pm.
