Wednesday Night Summer Racing
To take the concern out of having a number of boats scramble at the start we use a staggered start system in what is termed a pursuit race. Based upon the boats “modified” PHRF rating we send the slower boats out first with the fastest last. The first boat across the finish line is the winner. If you do not know your boat’s rating we will assign one. The rating is continually modified as we monitor the placement of the boats from week to week and adjust the rating accordingly. If a boat is continuously finishing at the top then the rating is adjusted to make it harder for that boat to win. The opposite is true for the slower boats. Hopefully every boat has a chance to win on any given day.
The course selected changes week to week depending upon the wind conditions.
Due to the Provincial Health Office COVID restrictions under the Step 1 Restart there will be no pre-race Skippers’ Meeting at the afterdeck or social gathering post-race. Hopefully this restriction will be relaxed in the future.
The skipper of any boat desiring to race on any given Wednesday is requested to advise Walter Clark at wwclark223@gmail.com or by phone at (250) 713-5204 prior to 1745 (5:45 PM) on race day. This will allow for start times to be provided to all boats. VHF channel 72 will be used during races.
For further information please contact Walter Clark.
