AHOY SHIPMATES!

Schooner Cove Yacht Club Commodore’s Ball Covid Caper 2020 is on the horizon

As you all know, the highlight of the Ball is the annual Most Embarrassing Moment Award (MEMA).

So why let a small thing like a global pandemic spoil our fun.

Yes, nominations are now open for this year’s award.

Please send your nomination to myself jimdutton@shaw.ca by November 1st.

Of course, this year’s procedure will be somewhat different from what we are familiar with.

The process will be:

·       Email your nomination to me. This just needs to be a brief description (headline) of the embarrassment along with the nominee’s name.

·       I will then contact you to make a short video presentation of your nomination.

·       The nominee will be requested to make a rebuttal, via a short video.

·       The videos will be made available for viewing on the club’s website during the Commodore’s Ball Covid Caper -2020

·       A jury of your peers will judge the nominations and a winner will be announced at the end of the video presentation.

·       Please note! Mail-in ballots will not be accepted, unless you are too shy to be on video.

I have already been advised of many incidents that have occurred during the year. Accidental swimming, unfortunate equipment failures, bouncing off rocks, to mention but a few.

Self-nomination’s (confession’s) will also be accepted.

Cheers, Jim.
