Cruise into Spring Sailing

With improving weather and longer daylight hours, it’s time to take in some spring sailing. The SCYC Spring Racing Series will hopefully stage two races on March 29 and two races on April 5 but check notices for any cancellations.

SCYC boats that are not regular participants in our racing program are encouraged to participate in Cruising divisions. Up to two Cruising Divisions will be sailed In addition to the Racing boats Division: One Cruising Boats Division will be for cruising boats sailing with spinnakers or other flying sails and one Division will be for cruising boats not employing flying sails.

The Cruising Divisions will start separately from the Racing boats and will sail shorter courses. Depending on registrations, the Cruising Divisions may also have staggered or self-timed starts to avoid congestion on the Start Line. The Skippers Meeting before racing will take place at 0900 on each race date. If required a special introductory discussion will be organized before the race dates to familiarize those interested with the event or to answer questions.
